SPRING VALLEY, WI – Despite getting a win recently, the Spring Valley softball team struggled holding onto leads down the stretch and finished the regular season losing their final five games, including four in the last week.

The Cardinals will go into the playoffs today at Glenwood City, one of the teams that recently beat the Cardinals. Valley finished the season with a 4-14 overall record, 2-12 mark in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference. The Cardinals finished in 7th place in the league, just ahead of E-PC. The team received a #9 seed in the regionals, facing #8 seeded Glenwood with the winner advancing to face the #1 seeded Fall Creek next Tuesday, May 21, in Fall Creek.

Glenwood City 14, Spring Valley 9 – The Cardinals fell behind Glenwood 6-0 through four innings, but scored three in the bottom of the fourth inning, and six more in the bottom of the fifth for a 9-6 lead. Unfortunately, Glenwood took advantage of extra outs the Cardinals gave them in the way of errors and scored five runs in the top of the sixth for an 11-9 lead, then three more runs in the seventh for the final margin.
