SPRING VALLEY, WI – On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. members of the Rickerd-Danielson American Legion Post 227 held a short groundbreaking ceremony for a new granite Veteran’s War Memorial. The Legionnaires were joined by Post Auxiliary members, some Boy Scouts, and interested members of the community for the ceremony. The Memorial is located just west of the original veteran’s Memorial location and next door to Spring Valley Dentistry near Park Drive and World War I Veterans Memorial Highway (State Highway 29).

Post Commander Pete Esanbock had some opening remarks before the shovels were taken up to break ground for the large (five feet tall by eight inches thick) new granite Memorial marker. The marker will be engraved with the names of local veterans who served and gave their all for their country from WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan.
