SPRING VALLEY, WI – A loss is a loss, hard to look at it any differently than that. But there are also games that are losses that teams might feel good about how they competed and how they played and battled. Sometimes those games are close battles and sometimes they can be much more split.
Last Friday night the Spring Valley girls’ basketball team had one of those games that ended with a loss but was a heck of a battle. The loss drops the Cardinals to 6-8 overall, 1-5 in the Dunn-St. Croix conference. The Cardinals hosted Ellsworth this past Monday and played at Elmwood-Plum City on Tuesday in a make-up game from earlier this month. Thursday night, the team hosted Glenwood City. The team will play at Colfax on Tuesday, January 28 and host Mondovi on Friday, January 31 as well.
The Cardinals and Bulldogs battled the entire game here last Friday. The Cardinals opened with a 4-0 lead before the Bulldog press gained a 17-10 advantage for Boyceville. Valley battled back to a 25-21 halftime lead.
