SPRING VALLEY, WI – Coming into play last week the Spring Valley volleyball team had a goal in sight – win their last two games and win the conference. The team took care of business on Tuesday with a 3-1 win over Elmwood-Plum City (E-PC) on the road and secured an undefeated conference season with a three-game sweep of Boyceville here last Thursday for their first conference title in, well, in a long time.
The wins improved the Cardinals to 21-7 on the season and 6-0 in conference play. It also secured some home-court advantage for at least the first two rounds of the WIAA playoffs.
Valley hosted Blair-Taylor this past Tuesday night as they earned the #4 seed in the region. If they beat #13 seeded Wildcats (5-4 Dairyland, 9-12 overall) they will host either #5 seeded Regis or #12 seeded Osseo-Fairchild tonight in Spring Valley at 7:00 p.m. This is the time of year that records go away, and everyone starts with a clean slate. The winner of the match on Thursday would play on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. at a location to be determined by who is advancing (#1 seeded McDonell Central has a first-round bye and will play the winner of the #8 Mondovi and #9 Colfax match on Thursday night).
