Delores Vrieze, age 94, of Baldwin, died Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Hammond Care Center. She was born on May 30, 1930, in River Falls, WI. She was the daughter of Millard and Christine (Wolden) Reiton. Delores was raised on their rural Baldwin farm, graduated from Baldwin High School, and furthered her education at River Falls College with a teaching degree. She was a teacher for several years, was later employed at Farmer’s Elevator, and eventually, ran a daycare center at her home along with serving as a town clerk for the township of Rush River for 32 years.

Delores was married to Walter Mohn, and they were blessed with four children: Ann, Cindy, Glen and James. She was widowed in 1968 and married Marion (Pete) Vrieze on July 10, 1971. Pete was her soulmate and best friend. They spent many happy years together involved in their church, traveling, laughing, enjoying family, and the Gophers.

Delores was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter, second husband, Pete, her youngest son, Jim, oldest daughter, Ann, and son-in-law, Don Langford. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Ruth (Reiton) Mentink and husband Jerry, and her sister Evelyn (Reiton) Kerwin and husband, David, and a great-grandson, Caden Aamodt.

Delores is survived by her daughter, Cindy; son, Glen and Dawn (Gardner) Mohn; and Lisa Johnson. Her grandchildren include Molly (Tony) Ouellette, Larry Langford, Laura Kutska, Jacob (Monica) Mohn, Stephanie Greier, Jaime Mohn, Chad Mohn, Rachel (Dan) Aamodt, Ben Johnson and Bradley Johnson. Her great-grandchildren included: Sadie and Elliott Ouellette, Dane and Alyssa “Aiden” Hall, Greta and Charlotte Mohn, David Ulm-Mohn and Marion (Pete) Mohn, Brooklynn and Colton Aamodt.

Delores was an influential part of her family; she was very reserved, but incredibly smart and kind. She loved children and the years she spent doing daycare were the most fun for her. In her later years, she found that being in daycare was her calling and she was blessed with many life-long friends, including her close friend Carol Lebo.

The family would like to thank the Hammond Care Center for their loving care during Delores’s stay. Delores enjoyed many activities including bingo, swatter ball, deer hunting with nerf guns, and old car shows.

Visitation was held on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at O’Connell’s Funeral Home of Baldwin, Wisconsin from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Reverend Brian Ewing will be officiating, and Carol Lebo will be singing with Dawn Mohn accompanying.  The burial will be at a later date.
