Dorothy Lucille Holm, age 84, of Woodville, WI, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2024, at Parkview Home with loved ones by her side. Dorothy was born on October 14, 1939; daughter of Bennie and Edna (Peterson) Iverson. Dorothy grew up on the family farm south of Woodville and attended Loyalty Country School. She graduated from Woodville High School in 1957 and then followed in her mother’s footsteps by pursuing a career in nursing. She attended classes at Augsburg College and completed her nurses training at Lutheran Deaconess Hospital in Minneapolis.
On June 30, 1962, she married Leslie “Les” Holm at Zion Lutheran Church. They lived in the Minneapolis area for a time where they were blessed with three children, Bradley, Mark, and Carrie. Dorothy worked as a Registered Nurse at Lutheran Deaconess Hospital for 17 years. The family moved back to Woodville in 1977 and Dorothy joined the daytime staff at Parkview Nursing Home where she worked for 24 years as a Registered Nurse and Interim Director of Nursing. Les and Dorothy celebrated their 60-year wedding anniversary in 2022 just weeks prior to Les passing.
Dorothy and Les were active members of the community. Les was a member of the Lions Club and Dorothy was a member of the Women’s Club. In her younger years, she was a bowler on the Purple Door Bowling League. After she retired, she enjoyed Friday afternoons volunteering at Treasures from the Heart in Baldwin. She made many friends throughout the years while living in and serving her community. Some of her favorite times were when she took amazing trips with her friends to places like Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, and Mexico. Her most treasured trip was to Israel with her sister, Judy.
After retiring in 2002 at the age of 62, Dorothy spent most of her days spoiling her grandchildren, planting, and caring for her flowers, picking up sticks, going on ATV rides and generally keeping an eye on Les to make sure he was staying out of trouble. She looked forward to her weekly card games with the ladies. Most recently, she enjoyed her daily chats with long time neighbor and friend, Barb Johnson, who always made sure to check on Dorothy. She also looked forward to her weekly visits with her granddaughter, Casey, who made sure she never missed a hair appointment and that her fridge was always stocked with the essentials.
Dorothy will remain in the hearts of many including her children, Brad Holm, Mark (Kellie) Holm, and Carrie (Jason) Dodge; grandchildren, Joseph Holm, Cayla (Steven) Mataczynski, Casey Holm, Tori Holm, Ally (Jeffery) Blum, Samantha Ware, Isaac (Brooke) Tuttle, and Mattison Dodge; sister, Judy Stene; brother/sister-in-law, Robert and Dawn Iverson; sister-in-law, Judy Dosdoll; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
