CHETEK, WI – If there is one thing that Spring Valley Head Coach Sean Hoolihan has stressed to his players over the years, it’s to play hard to the final buzzer, regardless of the score.

That mentality showed here last Tuesday as the Cardinals came up short at the end but clawed back into the game after being down by 13 late in the second half. Chetek-Weyerhaeuser held on for the 37-33 win over Valley, keeping the Cardinals winless on the season.

The loss drops Valley to 0-2 on the season with three non-conference games this week and two D-SC games next week, all at home. The Cardinals hosted Clear Lake this past Tuesday and will have games Friday and Saturday against Alma/Pepin and Bloomer respectively. Saturday’s game is at 1:45 in Colfax. The Cardinals also host Boyceville on Tuesday, December 5, and Glenwood City on Friday, December 8 to begin the conference schedule.
