CAMERON, WI – There is always the goal of running your best time, jumping your longest or highest jump, throwing the furthest, in your last meet of the season. Plenty of the Spring Valley track team members that qualified for the sectional meet here did just that.
Unfortunately, for the school without a track, none of the athletes from Spring Valley that competed had the opportunity to advance to the WIAA State Track Meet next week in LaCrosse. Quite a few of them had their best day of competition however, setting personal records along the way.
The best finish of the day came from senior Abby Biggs, who just missed advancing to the state meet with a fifth place finish in the 100 meter hurdles, earning four points with a finishing time of 16.79. Only the top four finishers in each event advance to the state meet. The senior also placed ninth in the pole vault, jumping nine feet even.
