ELMWOOD, WI – You may know Jim Baier from his legendary 1960’s football career in Elmwood, and then UW-River Falls. He was All-American in 1966 and led the nation in rushing yardage. Throughout his football career, he was a 2x All-American, 3x MVP, and 1x MVP of District 14 which includes the states of Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota. Or, you may know him from his longtime run as commander of the Crain-Ottman American Legion Post 207. Jim is a Vietnam War veteran. Or you may have known him as your mailman or his multitudes of work in the Elmwood community.
Jim will be celebrating his 80th birthday on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the historic Elmwood Auditorium in what some have called “the social event of the season.” The event, from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. is not only a celebration but a night devoted to giving back to three different important organizations in the Elmwood Community.
There will be a $3 door charge to get upstairs to the party, all of which will be donated to the Elmwood Area Community Club. Included with your door charge will be a delicious selection of hot pulled pork, ham sandwiches, macaroni salad, chips, and a variety of desserts. The Elmwood Fire Department will be in attendance running a cash bar. All proceeds from the bar will go back to the Fire Department.
