EDGAR, WI – The path to Madison for wrestlers is alway paved with tough opponents and hard matches. Every wrestler wants to get there and will do whatever it takes to make it there. But what most people don’t see is the amount of work it takes to get there. It isn’t just practice in season, it’s the work put in outside of the season that makes the biggest impact.
Spring Valley/Elmwood freshman Sam Schmitt has been putting in the work, which was clear as he advanced from the WIAA regional meet to the sectionals.
It isn’t often that freshmen advance in the state tournament unless they have been putting in the work.
