ELLSWORTH, WI – The 2023-24 wrestling season opened this past weekend and while there are not a lot of wrestlers out, there were some surprising matches that showed the program is moving in the right direction.
The Spring Valley/Elmwood squad finished 11th of 12 teams at the 59th Annual Ellsworth Invitational that had teams from both Wisconsin and Minnesota competing.
Prior Lake won the tournament with 182 points, edging out Dover-Eyota with 168 points. Third place went to Holmen with 157.5 points followed up by Plainview Elgin Millville (121.5), New Richmond (120), Regis/Altoona (112), St. Thomas Academy (108.5), River Falls (103.5), Ellsworth (93.5), Cadott (76), SV/E (25) and Prescott (16) rounding out the scores.
