SPRING VALLEY, WI – It was a fun and exciting moment last Friday afternoon, November 17, 2023, as members of the Spring Valley Chamber of Commerce gathered at the Spring Valley Golf Course (SVGC) to cut the ribbon for the Grand Opening of “The Flatstick” restaurant and bar. Owners Bob and Kathy Rupakus, who bought the SVGC four years ago, have been planning this great addition to their business ever since. Now the day finally arrived with the first meal being served at a traditional Wisconsin “Friday Fish Fry.” The bar was opened as well, and a featured drink was “The Flatstick Old Fashioned.” It is definitely worth trying!
60 guests had made reservations for the first dinner at The Flatstick. In addition to two or three pieces of baked or fried cod, the dinner guests would have choices from the extensive salad bar and warm side dishes such as au gratin or baked potatoes along with tasty Mac and cheese and more.
The Sun-Argus got the chance to talk with Bob and Kathy after the Chamber Ribbon Cutting and before they planned to have dinner with family and spend some time going around the tables and greeting their guests, as perfect hosts in their new restaurant.
