Wrestling team tops Boyceville, competes at Chi Hi Invite

SPRING VALLEY, WI – The conference part of the season is underway and this week will be a big test for the Spring Valley/Elmwood wrestling team. The Cardinals wrestled at Glenwood City Thursday night, then compete at the Shell Lake Invite on Saturday before competing at Mondovi next Thursday, January 30, 2025.

Spring Valley/Elmwood 58, Boyceville 24 – The Cardinals took advantage of Boyceville not having enough wrestlers to compete and would end up winning five matches by forfeit, although the Cardinals did surrender a few matches to forfeit as well.

The match started with Cole Retz winning by fall over the Cardinals’ RJ Quinn at 190 for an early 0-6 lead for Boyceville. Jack Steinmeyer evened the score with a win by fall over Isaiah Romero at 215 to make it 6-6. Boyceville’s Zach Hellendrung got a forfeit win at 285 followed by Ivan Farrell’s similar win at 106 to give Boyceville the lead at 6-18.
