CADOTT, WI – Coming out of last week’s win over Cadott relatively unscathed was a big point of emphasis for the Cardinals. The match-up with the Hornets has often been brutal for both teams in recent years and has often had an impact on the conference title. This year, however, Cadott is not in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference as they made the jump to the Lakeland Conference – but that hasn’t diminished the smash-mouth football game this has lived up to become.
This year, the Cardinals came into the game ranked eighth in the state in division seven with an undefeated record of 7-0 overall and 5-0 in conference action. The Hornets are 1-5 overall and 0-4 in the Lakeland with a relatively young team (four seniors only on the team).
The Cardinals opened the game defensively with an interception and scored just two plays later on a weaving sweep of a run by senior quarterback Cade Stasiek. The extra point kick by sophomore Isaac Koenig was good, giving Valley a 7-0 lead with 7:58 left in the first quarter.
