ELLSWORTH, WI – The St. Croix Valley Dementia Friendly Communities Coalition (SCVDFCC) is excited to be participating in the 2024 Hudson Hot Air Affair, “Rockin’ with the Coldies” for its 35th annual celebration held on February 2-4, 2024.
FirstCall Medical Monitoring by St. Croix Electric Cooperative (SCEC) will be sponsoring the “Livin’ It Up” balloon, piloted by Terry Dorshorst again this year, to promote the theme “Living Well with Dementia.” The coalition encourages those living with dementia and their care partners to pursue community involvement, to stay engaged and active, and to have FUN “Rockin’ with the Coldies.”
The SCVDFCC is seeking an individual, couple or family that would like to share their story of “Living Well with Dementia” as an Ambassador for this year’s Hudson Hot Air Affair. The Ambassador’s role would be to inspire hope and positivity by recognizing how individuals can maintain social involvement, physical activity, and community engagement while living with a progressive condition. The Ambassador and/or care partner/family member would be offered a chance to ride in the balloon at the launch, if interested.
Additionally, the Ambassador could share a news story, participate in the parade on Friday evening, and/or work with the coalition during Hot Air Affair events and beyond, if desired to fight the stigma of dementia and promote the coalition’s mission: “Collaborating to inspire healthy, friendly communities that support those living with dementia.”
If you are interested in advocating for increased awareness of dementia and would like to learn more about this opportunity to be an Ambassador for the Hudson Hot Air Affair events, please contact Kim Bauer, Dementia Care Specialist in St. Croix County at 715-381-4411 or Amy Luther, Dementia Care Specialist in Pierce County at 715-273-6780.
