Donald R Person, age 83, of Downsville, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on June 2, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born in River Falls, Wisconsin on November 22, 1940, to Roy and Cora (Vandeberg) Person. He grew up farming in River Falls and the surrounding areas. He graduated from Woodville High School in 1959.
Don went on to serve his country by enlisting in the US Army. He then married Corinne on December 14, 1968, in her childhood home in South St. Paul, Minnesota.
Don loved mowing his lawn, plowing snow, buying lottery tickets and going for drives in his little slice of Wisconsin. He enjoyed having a cup of coffee and conversation with all. Most of all, Don loved his family and made sure that his family knew how important they were to him and how much they were loved. He was gentle, strong and one of a kind. He went down when the sun came up on Sunday, June 2, 2024.
Don is survived by his wife Corinne; three children Dan (Diane) Person of Downsville, WI, Allison (Jim) Spradley of Baldwin, WI, and Sara Person of Downsville, WI. He is also survived by six grandchildren Kelsey (Ryan) Nowaskey, Ben (Kenzie) Person, Nick and Josh Spradley, Mathew and Samantha Cunningham; one great grandchild Sadie Nowaskey; sister Kay Smith; brother John Person as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Bub Person; sisters Jean Person and Laverne DeWell.
A Celebration of Life open house will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00p.m. on Saturday June 22, 2024, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI. Loved ones can share stories while a light lunch will be served. Interment will be held at a later date.
