Lyle Raymond Christopherson, age 81, passed away November 7, 2023, in his rural home near Spring Valley, Wisconsin, of natural causes.

He was born on July 31, 1942, to Raymond and Edna (Taylor) Christopherson. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley. He attended Spring Valley Public School through high school and graduated in 1960. He participated in sports, both football and basketball.

Lyle served in the U.S. Army as a gunner and received a medal for his marksmanship as a sharpshooter. He also served in the Army National Guard for six years.

Lyle worked as an over-the-road semi driver for Dotseth Trucking Company out of Knapp, Wisconsin and later worked many years for the Holiday Stations as a trucker out of Minneapolis.

As a young boy, he loved riding his pony Chipper and playing with his dog Trixie. When he was older, he always enjoyed preparing the land for spring planting every year on the farm.

One of the neighbors said, “Everyone who knew Lyle liked him.”  He was kind and helped his aunt by giving her rides where she needed to go. He also was the caregiver for his mother for two years. He and a friend would visit folks in the long-term care facilities and hospitals.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; sister Ramona Sanders; and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his sister Judy (Marv) Hoops, plus his nieces and nephews, and many cousins and friends.

He died at the age of 81 years, three months, and seven days.

Lyle’s memorial service is at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley on Saturday, May 18, at 1 p.m. Visitation is from noon until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at church. His burial is at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Spring Valley. Memorials may be made in his honor to the cemetery fund.
